Sign Up for Ohio Drivers Ed
Enroll in a state-approved Ohio drivers ed online course from Get Drivers Ed. (Students under 18 must complete 24 hours of online instruction and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed instructor.)

Get a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIPIC)
At age 15½, visit the Ohio BMV to take your vision screening and written knowledge test. After passing, you’ll receive your TIPIC and can begin supervised driving.

Start Practicing Driving
With your TIPIC, complete at least 50 hours of supervised practice (including 10 hours at night) with a licensed adult over 21. You must hold your TIPIC for at least six months.

Take the Road Test & Get Licensed
Once you complete education and practice requirements, schedule your Ohio driving test. Passing earns you your probationary license until age 18. Then, you’ll receive a full unrestricted license.
