If you are 17 or younger, you must be at least 16 years old, have held your permit for at least 6 months, and bring a valid Texas learner’s permit, DE-964 Certificate, completed 30-hour driving log and IMPACT Driving Course Certificate. If you are 18 or older, you need a valid Texas learner’s permit and IMPACT Driving Course Certificate. Drivers ages 18–24 also need an ADE-1317 Adult Driver Education Certificate. If you got your permit before turning 18, you must still complete all under-18 requirements.
